Democracy – the lost essence in politics of Pakistan.
(by - Kashif Sarmad)
Few days back the world including Pakistan was celebrating the day of democracy. I read the message to the nation by Pakistan’s president Mr. Asif Zardari in which he encouraged and supported democracy as the ultimate resort of prosperity for this nation.
I see eye to eye with the president in this regard but only giving memo on newspapers and TV advertisement cannot emphasize the vivacity of democracy. The only mean to bring to light the significance of democracy is the ensuring good governance to the nation. The excellence of life, peace, health, education and employment to the people can not only validate the magnitude of democracy but nation will also admire it, after observing its positive outcome.
Unfortunately, in 64 years people hasn’t witnessed the importance and need of democracy. I will hold politicians accountable to depreciate the factual political principles and its accurate essence for their own vested interests of being in authority for the wealth they dig up through crooked means.
Ironically, Principle in politics has diminished to its bottom and now the most controversial figures are in the kitchen cabinet of the country who decides the fate of people and of coming generations.
Our politicians haven’t learned to serve but to rule this country. At this time, we are facing ruinous financial and administrative problems in our country. Moreover, the bureaucracy has diminished the left sanctity of serving the nation.
These days, this nation is facing all kinds of problems that ought to be resolved by politicians collectively. Poverty and inflation is increasing day by day, no employment is given on merit basis, the law and order situation is getting worse in every part of the country, the quality health and education is missing since the birth of Pakistan, our institutions are getting 2 billion of subsidy, war against terrorism has taken more then 60 thousand precious lives of our countrymen and soldiers with the cost of more then $30 billion, the integrity is being challenged by USA through drones and 02 may Abbotabad operation, in recent flood 5.5 million people became displaced and 4.5 million acre of agriculture lands are devastated etc.
There are numerous other problems which this nation is facing not due to natural calamity but due to our government’s failure in planning to protect and serve its people.
I am staunch advocate of democracy and freedom of speech, because I know its intrinsic worth in long term but will this be the mentality of our people who lives in below the poverty line with no education and striving hard everyday to earn meal for their kith and kin? I would like to say “No” to this query.
Let me share with you what people want in their lives, they want good earnings, quality health service and education, they want definite security and swift justice, they want good infrastructure and effortless access to the people who are governing them, they want elimination of inflation so they can obtain meal without difficulty, in short they desire quality of life which make them understand the importance and magnitude of democracy.
People don’t care which government should come to Islamabad or whether it’s democratic or non-democratic. All they want the above facilities which they obviously deserve as the inhabitants of this state.
I would like to request to president of the Pakistan to ponder over this and then give such avowal which mentions the importance of democracy, because people won’t understand it if their kids are hungry and they don’t have proper health facility or if they don’t have jobs or not getting justice.

Mirza Leaks
(By Kashif Sarmad)
After watching Mr. Zulfiqar Mirza's press conference the Pakistani politics has twisted to the new portico which might bring-up blood-spattered culmination in particularly in Karachi and generally in Pakistan.
The politics in Karachi reflects the whole country’s political scenario. Mr. Mirza proved to be far lethal then wiki-leaks, he revealed and unearth very grave allegations on Mr. Rehman Malik, MQM, USA, Altaf Hussain, UK and on Army and its institutions like ISI.
According to Mr. Mirza the political organism has corrupted shoddily and he has started distillation it by speaking truth.
I do not doubt Mr. Mirza upon all his allegations on individuals, countries and institutions, but I really have some queries to solicit from Mr. Mirza regarding his accusations.
In one of his proclamation in which he (Mr. Mirza) said that Mr. Malik is making fool all and sundry including PPP headship by his mendacity and exaggerations and Mr. Asif Ali Zardari has made mistake by appointing him as a federal Interior Minister.
I would like to say on that; whether Mr. Mirza is considering Mr. Zardari involved in deteriorating political milieu or Mr. Zardari is exceptionally incompetent to comprehend bundles of lies by his own Interior Minister?
In other proclamation, Mr. Mirza badly indicted MQM and its leaders as traitors and terrorists. He said that, in a letter written by Altaf Hussain, he appealed to Britain Prime Minister Tony Blair too disband ISI and in return he vowed to serve Britain's political interests in Pakistan and Afghanistan. In addition, he blamed Altaf Hussain that, Mr. Altaf has revealed to Mr. Mirza that, USA will disintegrate Pakistan and he is with America in that conspiracy. According to Mr. Mirza, Mr. Altaf also said to Mr. Mirza that he won’t stop homicide against Pashto speaking people in Karachi.
This allegation of Mr. Mirza triggered the article 6 of the constitution which describes treason against Pakistan. I would like to ask Mr. Mirza that; can't you think that this statement of yours cannot only blame Altaf Hussain but also President and Army? I am saying this because, Mr. Mirza said that he shared this information with President, Army chief and ISI chief. If he has done so then why, Pakistan Army and President did not probe into such stern issue? This matter leads to two questions that, whether Presidency and Army do not take Mr. Mirza's words seriously or they are least bother about any conspiracy mounting under their nose. We ought to commit to memory that this conspiracy is not political but is about the integrity and security of Pakistan. It is crucial business indeed; we also have bystander the excellence of vigilance of our armed forces when they were under attack in GHQ, Mehran Naval base Karachi and an operation Abbotabad on 2nd may 2011 by American soldiers without enlighten the government of Pakistan.
Now my question is from Mr. Mirza is that, besides MQM shall we count president and army involved in this conspiracy too? If not, then why didn’t they take any action on your severe and stirring information? Are they incompetent or involved? I think people are not as stupid as you reckon.
The last but not the least, I doubt the intentions of Mr. Mirza political game that he is in performance. As he mentioned that he is retired from politics but even then he is leading rallies and addressing public gatherings. I am little confused with this sort of retirement!
Though, I have some questions regarding his recent activities; I won’t say political because he officially announced retirement from it.
• Is he formatting or have intentions to format new political party? If no, as he said in his statements too; then what is the use for rallies or arranging public meetings?
• What will he say to his followers on the day of voting or in elections? To vote his best friend Mr. Asif Ali Zardari or anyone they like?
• Is he warming-up by beating-up and harassing journalists or its Mr. Mirza’s part of new manifesto which prohibits freedom of speech?
• Is Mr. Mirza’s war is against MQM, target killers, government, Army, ISI, USA, UK, Mr. Altaf Hussain or against Mr. Rehman Malik?
• As he said, does he really want to start a gorilla war against MQM and its allies in Karachi? If yes, then does he have some arrangements to nourish millions of people who work on daily wages in this mega city?
I appreciate that Mr. Mirza is speaking truth; though its half truth, but I would be glad about him more if he sidelines Mr. Asif Ali Zardari’s gigantic favoritism upon him and be entirely loyal to Pakistan and its populace. I know its hard to overlook a kindness especially when it earns you sugar mill but if he really wants to see the Pakistan of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah back on map, as he said in his statement; then he should forget about comradeship because his actions may lead the millions of lives at stake in the war of truth and lies.
Besides that, he should transform his blood-spattered thought into nonviolent ideology. He should convert people terror into gallantry which eventually will revolutionize the fortune of Pakistani politics.
Pakistan and its people are going all the way through hard-hitting time which shouldn’t be twisted into fatal for the nation. In Karachi only about 5 million people are on daily wages. It means that 5 million families cannot afford carnage at any cost. If Mr. Mirza will strengthen those 5 million families to fight for their constitutional rights, I am sure that, Mr. Mirza purpose of change this country into Quid-e-Azam’s Pakistan will be served effectively, instead of more atrocities.
In the end I would like to point out that Quid-e-Azam never been in detention or punished by the court of law, because he was always adjacent to the mayhem of innocent people. In his lifetime he never called for such strikes, protests or any other activity which merely had a chance of violence.
I would like to end my piece of writing here by advising Mr. Mirza that, Pakistani nation doesn’t need any bleeding revolution, but it surely needs a leader like Jinnah or Iqbal which changes this system through change of minds. It will take time but it will change the destiny of this nation perpetually.

Meeting Angel of death.
(The funny Story)
(By – Kashif Sarmad)
I was spinning around and nothing felt doing anything. Abruptly, I switched TV on and say the news channel as customary. I saw on channel the news regarding to the terror campaign and wars. I kept shuffling channels and on every TV channel the analogous stories and wars and deaths were on-air.
I was so down to see those corpses of various age groups lying on ground. I sigh deeply and was wishing to meet the angel of death, so I can ask him his experience regarding taking-up human’s soul.
Out of no where someone tapped my back; I looked behind and screamed in girlish voice “what the heck?” I felt like a young virgin girl who witness impious rapist in her bathroom and yells hard till she throw-up her intestines out of her mouth. I saw man with unfriendly and almost with horrible gesture standing behind me in a white attire with a white flying circle over his head.
He was passing me smile which was totally offensive for me and I was not in the amicable position to reciprocate in the same gesture. As I cant mention his description but without any single doubt He was carrying debonair and handsome personality indeed. In one word, he was almost perfect. I retain information that the girl I adore is very fervent to unearth the gentlemen for herself with the identical description as that strange person has.
Anyhow, after communicating with my breath which I almost lost; I tried to start the conversation with him with a shivering voice and wobbly legs;
Me: Who the hell are you? (I asked him the way I was ready to cry out loud)
Angel: I am the angel of death. (He passed his meaningful smile again)
Me: Who? Come again please. (Now I was thinking to call the cops or mental hospital)
Angel: I am an angel of death and I can prove it if you don’t believe me.
Me: Ok, so what can you do?
Angel: May be I lift you up in the air.
Me: Can you really do that? (I was excited and little scared)
Angel: Yeah! Here you go.
He lifted me up in the air and I was amazed but his presence in my house baffled me a bit. Without wasting anytime, I asked him to answer some of my questions and he agreed to answer. I was so happy and excited that I will be the first human being who is not only meeting with the Angel but also having conversation as well and specially without medically being deceased. So I resumed conversation again with the Angel.
Me: What is your job description? (I broke the ice again)
Angel: My job is to transport souls to their home destination.
Me: What is the difference between you and Human?
Angel: Life!
Me: What do you feel when you take up soul from human body?
Angel: I don’t feel anything. I am not allowed to feel anything.
Me: Oh! That makes your job very easy mate. Why do you do that?
Angel: Do I have any other option? I am assigned for this job and I have to do it.
Me: What is life for you?
Angel: A journey to death.
Me: And what is death for you?
Angel: A perpetual life.
By this time, his answers in strange manner freaked me out. I tried to change the vibes by asking him diverse and less knotty queries.
Me: Why you take-up souls of innocent people?
Angel: You better ask this question from Humans and yourself. You will get the answer.
Me: What makes you uncomfortable?
Angel: When people ignore my presence. Human forgot that one day they have to see me and they have to die.
Me: Ay wish you got?
Angel: I wish I could leave this job but I can’t.
Me: It seems you hate your job.
Angel: No, but I don’t love it either.
Me: What do you think when you spend your time among people?
Angel: It’s always been funny. They don’t know anything yet they believe that they know everything.
Me: When you get busier?
Angel: In wars.
Me: How hard it is to take a Human life?
Angel: Technically, it is not difficult as I am having command over it but yes the circumstances of that individual make my job tough sometimes. I then move on with my job. I am definite about that every human is responsible for his/her own circumstances.
He was angry during this reply and I was silent. I couldn’t argue with the thing that has powers to dismantle my life anytime. I was trying to ask him harmonious questions in order to keep the room environment friendly but failed so far. This could put me in more trouble, Trouble? Did I say trouble? That entity can take my life without any justification given to the law of land and I am messing up with him or it. I even cannot call cops to help me. No, I should change the questions immediately; I was talking to myself. I started asking questions again with more smiley face as I have won the lottery.
Me: So do you eat and drink? (I asked him with cute and big smile so I can offer him something)
Angel: No (He replied with little rudeness but I was not taking it on heart)
Me: Do you lie?
Angel: What do you like in this world? (At this situation I was extremely perplexed but yet smiling)
Me: I liked this world when it was created but God. It was so beautiful and attractive. At one moment I wished to be human but now I even regret about my wish. God has blessed this world everything but human beings has torn it apart with boundaries, hatred and wars.
Though, I have heard that Angels don’t cry but this time he was about to cry like baby and I was scolding myself for deteriorating the smooth interview. The last questions which I had in my mind could devastate the situation more but I had to ask these questions but for that I should provide this creature a time, so he can get back to normal frame of mind. I was scared this time. I guess I should start this conversation from easy going questions, I said to myself.
Me: Tell me one thing, by any chance if you leave this job then what other field you will select?
Angel: I would like to be American president. We share the same nature of job.
Me: Which soul was toughest to seize?
Angel: I went in the middle of sea and on boat I had to seize the soul of one lay but she was accompanying the infant in the same boat. As I starting capturing her soul she was begging me to leave her till she drops her kid to a safe place. I was not supposed to leave her alive and I took her soul away and left that kid in the boat.
Me: Then what happened with the kid?
Angel: Trust me; he was not left-unaided.
Me: I appreciate that you gave time to me but the thing which wonder’s me is, why you approved to give time and answers to my question as you usually font appear before people?
Angel: It’s my job.
Me: What do you mean?
Angel: Actually, I came here half an hour early to seize your soul so I thought to kill time by having conversation with you. Its time, you have to come with me.
Me: What?????
It jolts me and I woke up with wrench screaming in my mother tongue. I gazed here and there with freaked eyes. I thought all over the conversation and still thinking whether I am alive or not? This is the same question for you. Are you alive or you are waiting for the Angel of death.

Shame on us!
(By - Kashif Sarmad)
CIA head Raymond Davis set gratis by the Lahore High Court on 16th March. This breaking news not only traumatized the nation but also hit the offended waves around the country.
Since I have seen the news on TV, I was shocked and angry over the system and was feeling sorry about those who got killed in that scenario, counting the poor widow of deceased Fahim who committed suicide due to slow justice progression and perceptible liberating Davis from charges. In her last interview to News channels, she was keep demanding justice; even on her death bed.
The whole panorama was alarming and evidently showed the factual features of courts and judiciary with the counterfeit role of government dealing Raymond Davis case.
I want to pronounce all of us culprit in this situation. The other question draw closer is; why?
First culprit is Pakistani Nation, one of the lawyers of deceased family demanded from Pakistani nation on TV to shell out the funds to deceased family, so the family of victims shouldn’t mould to the Diyat by Americans. The irony of that idea ended up on approximately fifty four thousand rupees only. Hats off to our nation!
People of Pakistan are always fervent to pop-up on streets for remonstration to record their demands but in this regard all of us were least bother. May be its because the mass moments are derived by the political parties, however, in this stipulation all political parties were on vibration mode due to keeping their relation animate with the Uncle Sam.
Second culprit is Government, since the first day, the government of Pakistan not only botched Raymond Davis case but also presented insubstantial case before court in order to give relief to Davis. Provincial government also failed to endow with facility and security to victims’ family which made the families insecure in all way. The most imperative, Raymond Davis was charged with not only murders but also spying and carrying the illegitimate weapon which could sentence him more then decades in jail. Definitely, the government has to sustain its financial and strategic relationship with USA. May be, IMF’s next instalment is yet to arrive as an award to Pakistani politicians.
Third Culprit is judiciary; I would put more culpability to our beloved and honorary courts for which people gave their blood to make it refurbish. Court unconfined Raymond Davis from murder after Diyat papers were signed by the victims’ family. Ironically, court has given relaxation to Davis in carrying the illegal weapon and shooting around on the busiest street of Lahore which could transport Raymond Davis behind bars for at least seven years. What Chief justice going to do about this? The maximum he will do is to bit his nails in frustration.
I would like to mention one example regarding Americans hegemony over diplomatic immunity which they were keep reciting since Raymond Davis was in jail. “In January 1997, Gueorgui Makharadze, the deputy ambassador of the Republic of Georgia in Washington caused an accident that injured four people and killed a sixteen-year-old girl. He was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.15, but released from custody because he was a diplomat. The U.S. government asked the Georgian government to waive his immunity, which they did and Makharadze was tried and convicted of manslaughter by the U.S. and sentenced to seven to twenty-one years in prison. The first three years of his sentence were served in a North Carolina prison, after which he was repatriated to his home nation of Georgia to serve the remainder of his sentence”.
I don’t have words to condemn this act of barbarity by not only USA but by every institution of Pakistan. I don’t want to appeal anything from anyone because all are sailing in the same boat of greed, power lust and corruption.
All I have to say is to the youth of Pakistan:
Ay dost karo himmat kuch door sawaira hai
Agar chahtay ho manzil tu parwaaz badal dalo
Tum ney bhi suni hogi bari aam kahawa hai
Anjaam ka ho khatra aghaz badal dalo
